Chaos prevailed in the past few days with the system that counts Traffic fee according to carbon dioxide emissions.
Many who have registered new or imported used cars in Greece have found that the system calculates the road tax completely wrong and in some cases the amounts that car owners are required to pay are exorbitant.
As Newsauto.gr reveals, the owner of a Hyundai i20 with a 1 liter petrol engine and 100 hp instead of zero annual traffic fee is required to pay a traffic fee of € 1,174.20!
And in another case, the owner of a Hyundai Tucson, and indeed the hybrid version with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a power of 180 horses, is required to pay a fee of 2,325.60, while it is 112 euros depending on the pollutants they emit!
In both cases, the system miscalculated the CO2 emissions from the cars and in the case of the Hyundai Tucson, the amount of road tax was calculated with CO2 emissions of 816g/km. While in reality this particular car emits 160 g/km. Whereas in the case of the i20 the actual CO2 emissions are 120 g/km. Instead of 412 g/km
However, the big problem is focused on the fact that owners of cars with incorrect tolls cannot find a solution because the tax office sends them to transport directorates and tubalins. As a result of the above, vehicle owners appear on the Taxisnet network as owing traffic fees for their cars and in fact in most cases the amounts are doubled with the passage of the payment date!
