What the relatives of the 44-year-old man, who has been missing since Thursday afternoon, February 16, are saying.

Nikolaos Aerakis, 44, went missing on Thursday afternoon, February 16, from the Kasi area of ​​Heraklion after being injured in a traffic accident.

As his relatives spoke to “Tuneal”, he hit his head in an accident with his car. He was taken to hospital where he underwent tests but nothing serious was found.

But he was completely confused and the doctors did not help to calm him down.

On returning home, he took his mother’s car, Renault Clio, silver color, registration number HIT – 7923 and absconded.

Two days later the abandoned car was found in Paleogastro, which is why the search was focused from the first moment on the surrounding area. EMAK participated with a specially trained dog, harbor guards, divers and speleologists.

“He was in shock…”

Along with the missing man’s brother, Manos Erakis, the “tunnel” was discovered in Paleokastro, where he disappeared.

“It all started with an accident that happened in the early hours of Thursday, February 16. He had been out with some friends the night before, went back to smoke cigarettes and had an accident. He hit a tree and the paramedics who found him said he was in shock. They went to Venizelio by ambulance and he was “Doctors said it was post-shock. He was treated at another hospital in PAGNI, where he was in charge at that time. There they did a CT scan of his brain. Then they left for home, but he is still unwell,” he said.

As he pointed out, he suddenly disappeared in an instant.

“He suggested to our mother that we go for a walk at seven o’clock in the afternoon. We heard the door close before she agreed and came to the kitchen. We did not see him again after that. He took our mother’s car. Two days later a hunting friend found it. Many and extensive efforts by officers and friends and volunteers. Investigations were conducted.”

The car was found on the side of the road leading to Heraklion. It was unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Her cell phone and police ID were found in the passenger seat.

His brother has literally plowed the Heraklion area and anyone who saw or knows anything is asked to contact him, the authorities or the broadcaster.

“We are investigating the direction in which he might have gone. So, I would like to appeal to anyone in the surrounding area and others on the Khasi and Ammutharas side to check if there are any cameras facing the road from Thursday night to Saturday.”

Manos Erakis says he chose a place to hide because of the confusion caused by his traffic accident.

“We cannot explain exactly what happened to him. What is certain is confusion. Unfortunately, they did not give him any anesthesia. I think he may have disappeared. He was a naturalist, he was always in the mountains. He might have gone to some mountainous region. Nevertheless, he went to Heraklion. We don’t want to rule out the possibility and I would ask any mountain dwellers, wanderers or walkers to be alert and let us know if they can.

The strange thing about the whole case is that his brother is still worried about his fate, and after a few days, Nikos will take the exam to get a professional diploma, so he doesn’t want to leave.
