Sam Wilson, Captain America

Chris Evans does not indulge in speculation about his possible return as Steve Rogers in “Captain America 4..”

On Saturday, Evans responded to a tweet from The Hollywood Reporter about “Captain America 4,” which read, “It’s unclear if Chris Evans will reprise his role as the first Captain America.” Evans replied: “Sam Wilson, Captain America.”

Either Evans’ Twitter game is strong or he’s trolling. We tend to think of the latter because why spoil a big surprise? When First reported in 2021 That he was in talks to return as the First Avenger, he reacted similarly and tweeted “news for me. “

It’s unlikely that Evans’ return will be a remake of “Captain America,” but rather his appearance in an untitled Marvel project with an option for a second movie.

When we last saw Captain America in the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers traveled to 1945 to live his life in peace with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) before reappearing in the present as an old man.

According to the time travel rules set by “Avengers: Endgame,” Captain America’s return to the past will create a different timeline and will no longer be part of the movie universe. This means that in order to return to the current timeline of “Endgame”, he will have to use a time travel device.

With Cap appearing on the time travel platform as an old man, the “Endgame” scene could have played according to the movie’s own rules. But since he was just lounging on a bench, the movie seemed to suggest that he simply lived his life and showed up at the right moment. He certainly didn’t seem to be wearing a time travel device in this scene.

Either way, if Steve Rogers has a future in the MCU, Evans isn’t telling us about it on Twitter.
