African Youth Adaptation Competition: Call for Applications

Young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 are invited to submit their business plan on the official application portal.

Each of the twenty winners will receive $100,000 and benefit from capacity building training, mentorship and coaching.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 4 October 2022.

The Global Center for Adaptation (GCA), and African Development Bank Climate Investment Funds are inviting applications to participate in the second edition of the YouthADAPT Competition.

YouthADAPT is a competition organized annually by the Bank and its partners targeting young entrepreneurs and SMEs in Africa.

These should offer innovative solutions and business concepts capable of enhancing climate change adaptation and resilience across the continent. The work or applicable product must not be commercially in common use.

The 20 winners will receive $100,000, and will also benefit from coaching, mentorship and coaching to advance their innovations in climate change adaptation in their communities and across the continent.

The competition is part of one of the pillars of the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), a strategic partnership between Global Center for Adaptation and the African Development Bank. It aims to deal with the combined effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and economic crisis.

Be between 18 and 35 years old

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old. Companies need to be led by young people and provide solutions that address real-life challenges. They must be registered in and work in Africa, as well as be able to prove income for at least two years. 50% of the finalists will be women-owned or women-led companies.

Global Center for Adaptation (GCA)
