The changes compared to last year’s models aren’t as dramatic, but they’re certainly still welcome. Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ are similar in terms of features with the choice between the two coming down to screen size preference.
Specifically, the Galaxy S23 comes with a 6.1-inch display with small margins around it, including a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel with an adjustable refresh rate from 48 to 120 Hz. It is a more compact device, but without lack of power and capabilities, as we will see in more detail below. On the other hand, the Galaxy S23+ comes with a 6.6-inch display with the same panel technology and the same resolution (FHD+), so in terms of screen, the difference between the two is quite in size.
On the back, the two devices house three cameras, the main one being 50MP (f/1.8 OIS). It comes with a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera and a 10MP (f/2.4 OIS) telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom. The entire series uses Super HDR technology, which preserves details in very bright or very dark parts of the image. In the central camera system is also the biggest design change of the new models, with Samsung opting for a similar solution The Ultrawhich for many is “cleaner” with the sensors barely protruding.
Night shots in general have been improved with Nightography, as the company calls it, with more detail preserved and noise reduced even further. In addition, the improved optical stabilization provides steadier shots with less distortion, even at night, in both photos and videos.
A new feature is astrophotography, which requires a tripod. The samples shown by the company foreshadow an interesting feature for fans of constellations and night sky photography, and even a constellation map is offered to help users. Another new function is “double exposure” photography, where two images are combined into one and the results are unique – an effect we also find in Polaroid cameras.
Both models come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm) processor, leaving Exynos behind, in a move that will certainly please many in the local market. The performance is expected to be at the highest level, as it is the best Qualcomm chip on the market. In terms of RAM, again there are no differences, because all the kits offer 8 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S23 will come with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage, and respectively the Galaxy S23+ with 256GB and 512GB.
The devices battery is larger than its predecessors, with the Galaxy S23 having a capacity of 3900mAh and the Galaxy S23+ with a capacity of 4700mAh. Together with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, autonomy is expected to go to high places in this category, but we are waiting for the first tests to see how many hours of use have translated above.
The screen and the back of the entire series are reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 – the best in the company – and the metal frame is made of Armor Aluminum, like many other devices of the company.
The devices will be available in different colors, with the base ones (Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender) coming to our country, while the new Lime, Sky Blue, Red and Graphite are expected to launch in any countries. Cost is set at €999 for the 128GB model of the Galaxy S23 and €1,059 for the Galaxy S23/256GB which are the base models. They spread as well Galaxy S23 Ultra Model on February 17th, and for those who pre-order, they can get the Galaxy S23 / 256GB model at a price of 128GB, and the Galaxy S23 + / 512GB model at a price of 256GB.
