Two rare stars will explode the world of gold showers (video)

with Publishing In the journal “Nature”, a research team led by scientists from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the USA presented an extremely rare, impressive and important cosmic phenomenon in many ways. At a distance of 11,400 light-years from Earth, there is a binary system consisting of two rare-type neutron stars. The system is codenamed CPD-29 2176 and according to prevailing theory, there is only one such system as CPD-29 2176 for every ten billion binary systems in the universe. Only ten such binary systems have been discovered.

Through their observations using the SMARTS telescope in Chile, the researchers report that the two stars may merge at some point, causing a kilonova explosion, one of the most violent and complex phenomena in the universe. Kilonova explosions produce intense flashes of radioactive light and large quantities of important elements such as silver, gold, platinum, and uranium.

The researchers hope that their discovery will shed light on the mechanism behind these eruptions, which remains largely a mystery to scientists. Deciphering kilonova explosions may, in turn, shed light on the origins of the universe’s heaviest chemical elements, which are responsible for their diversity.
