Harassment by guys over actress Ada Wong – she had to close her Instagram account

Lily Gao is a Chinese Canadian actress who recently voiced the much-loved character Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 4 remake that came out last month. But Gao’s performance received mixed reactions from fans. Some praised her for portraying a new, realistic version of Ada, while others criticized her as uninteresting, noting that she did not resemble the original voice of Jolene Andersen, who played Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 2 remake.

However, some players have crossed the line of logic and criticism and taken it to extremes, with acts of harassment and abuse. In particular, Gao has been bombarded for days with hateful messages and comments on her social media accounts, especially on Instagram, where she has posted several photos of her personal life and work. Some comments accused her of spoiling the game, wasting players’ money, and being a bad actress. Some have even made racist and sexist comments about her appearance and ethnicity.

As a result of the harassment, Gao deleted most of her photos from her Instagram account, leaving only one post explaining the role of privilege in society. He has also disabled comments on this post. Overall, the bullying has reached such an extent that it appears the actress has decided to withdraw – at least for the time being – from social media to avoid further abuse from online trolls.

In case you didn’t know, Lily Gao is a talented and passionate actress who has worked on many projects besides the Resident Evil 4 remake. She also played Ada Wong in the film adaptation of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City which was released last year. In addition, she has appeared in the TV series The Expanse as Nancy Gao, as well as other TV series such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Slip, and Chapelwaite.

For the record, this isn’t the first time an actress has been harassed by gaming. In 2017, Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby in The Last of Us Part II, received death threats for her role in the game.
