Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s largest external display unveiled at the show – Samsung

With the 2021 and 2022 updates, the company has focused on upgrades related to other technical features of both models. But for 2023, the Korean giant is planning to make at least some substantial improvements to the Flip 5, including a larger external screen that is expected to make the device more user-friendly. The new render now gives us our first look at exactly what the new Flip’s external screen will look like.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a small cover screen of 1.34 inches. It’s large enough to receive incoming calls, quickly reply to messages, and check incoming notifications. There isn’t enough space on the screen to run apps or any other task that requires more than a few taps.

However, with the Z Flip 5, Samsung is reportedly expanding the external display to about 3-4 inches as it mentioned SamMobile. An earlier rumor states that the screen size is around 3.4 inches. What is certain is that in both cases, the Flip 5 will offer much more space on its external screen for additional features and functionality. As the illustration below shows, Samsung’s summer face exterior screen can cover almost the entire exterior and has a square aspect ratio.

What remains is how Samsung will improve One UI to take advantage of the larger external screen. Even if the company does not allow apps to run on the cover screen, a third-party app will be able to make that possible as in other cases. The larger external screen will also make it easier to check notifications and respond to texts.

Other rumors suggest that Samsung could equip the Flip 5 with an improved foldable display and more durable glass to reduce crease visibility, but there is no reliable information about this.
