Ask them about taxes

A good question for the Syrians is, “What are you going to do with taxes, that’s how you find yourself in power.” I write this because I don’t hear any Democrats new to committees asking such things when only four years ago their power was earned primarily because of taxes. The Syrians taxed like crazy and the New Democrats promised tax cuts. And in fact, at the end of the four-year period, the tax cut is one measure that has changed from promise to action.

There is another major reason to ask this question. Syriza is not talking about direct tax cuts. Not in his right mind. His promises are limited to indirect taxes or value-added tax, but with regard to direct taxes, his disposition is directed towards increasing them, not reducing them. This is also consistent with their theory. People are statist, they want money in public coffers and not the free economy to grow.

Come to think of it, it’s Syriza that has so far announced direct tax increases. Increased dividend tax and increased taxes on parental benefits over €250,000. They argue that these two are elegant. Bourdais. The first is purely the product of their anti-investment madness, while the second is their aversion against Mitsotakis personally, who reduced him to an alleged extreme political option.

It would be nice to have a discussion about tax policy, I insist, because this is where their general reasoning necessarily unfolds. In such discussions they will talk about a cap on the profits of all companies (if possible), about re-nationalization of the National Bank (in what century do we live?), about buying back the PPC (for what money, really?) and all the rest of the nonsense that flies around is scattered here. And there. People haven’t changed, don’t fool yourself. Just find a way to reveal it.

They do not want much, they get excited and angry at the slightest thing. They want a little nudge and reveal their true selves who hide behind supposed mean turns and mild-mannered attitudes on TV panels. It’s a button, as long as it’s found and the self they’re trying to hide automatically gets out of them.
