New Provision for Service of New School Directors in Official Gazette

The new provision for the term of service of new school directors was published in the Government Gazette and was voted by a majority in Parliament.

Specifically, the rule is as follows:

Article 100
Provisions relating to appointment of Headmasters of School Units and appointment of Educational Administrators – Para. e) Section 39 of para. 3 and para 42 of Law 4823/2021. 1.

1. In paragraph e) of paragraph 3 of article 39 of Law 4823/2021 (A’ 136), a fourth paragraph is added and paragraph e) is made as follows:

“e) Candidates for the posts of Directors of School Units and Laboratory Centers (EC) may apply for the posts of all School Units and EC respectively. Candidates for the posts of Directors B.S. and PEI.S. may apply for up to five (5) Directorships, in total, B.S. .and PEI.S. of the same Regional Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education. Provided, however, that the condition of placement in the post of director of a school unit or that the candidate completes the mandatory hours of directorship in EK school units and EK states that for the aid of the condition of the preceding paragraph, The mandatory hours of the director’s position in secondary education school units or the EK to be completed are calculated without using the second paragraph of paragraph a) of paragraph 13. of article 14 of Law 1566/1985 (A’ 167), in cases of verification by competent local examination boards, Law 1566/1985 The application of the second paragraph of paragraph 13 of Article 14 a) It is impossible to place principals in school units or ECs in which their placement is expected or the rank of selected principals in the approved final evaluation table has been changed.”

2. The fourth paragraph, determining the tenure and duration of academic authorities, is added to paragraph 1 of article 42 of Law 4823/2021, and paragraph 1 is designed as follows:

“1. The selection and appointment of educational administrators shall be for a period of four years, commencing with their appointment and ending on July 31 of the fourth year following the selection, subject to paragraph 1 of Article 44 and paragraph 6 of Article 60. Selection and appointment to vacant posts shall be for the remainder of the term. Education The appointed administrators shall continue their duties after the expiry of the term and until the new administrators take office.Para. f) to kv) of para 2 and par. d) to r) of para. 3 of 30 New employees of Education, as per Chapter B’ selected and previously placed in the last quarter. At the end of the academic year, depending on the level of education they belong to, they will enter service within the last three (3) working days of the same academic year in the case of administrators belonging to elementary education and within the first ten days of the same academic year in the case of employees belonging to secondary education in July after the end of the same academic year. .”

3. Paragraph 1 of paragraph 3 of article 39 of Law 4823/2021, framed by paragraph 1 thereof, applies to principals of secondary education units or E.K. This also applies to principals of elementary and middle school divisions created by adding the fourth paragraph to paragraph 2 of this and paragraph 1 of article 42 of Law 4823/2021, which will be put into effect. Selected before the end of the 2022-2023 academic year and placed in the last quarter.

4. Heads of Academic Subjects of the Directorates of Elementary and Secondary Education and Heads of School Units selected for the academic year 2022-2023 and at the time this comes into effect or shall remain in the position they hold before their appointment as Directors of School Units after this comes into force and they shall continue to perform their duties in accordance with the fourth paragraph of paragraph 1 of Article 42 until they accept their duties.
