Also available on smartphones is ChatGPT, OpenAI’s AI application that is already growing rapidly on the Internet and its capabilities are impressive and worrying.

The new app is initially available on iPhones in the US, and is expected to arrive “soon” in other countries and on Android cell phones (Google), according to an announcement from the California company.

The mobile application, which is offered free of charge, like the website, allows a conversation with a chatbot (an interactive bot) with the user able to ask it to write messages, explain technical concepts, suggest ideas, and summarize notes, among many other possibilities.

ChatGPT, which went live in late November, surpassed 1 million users within a week, which is a record. Two months later, the service already has about 100 million monthly active users, another record, according to a study by UBS. This light use of ChatGPT is causing great concern all over the world.

Sam Altman, President and CEO of OpenAI, spoke before a US congressional committee last Tuesday, in favor of government interventions to regulate the development and use of artificial intelligence.
