The meeting was first reported by the French newspaper Liberation, where Prigozhin met with Putin, the head of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov and the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Nareskin.
The meeting, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, took place on June 29, five days after the rebellion made Putin present his most serious challenge since taking power in Russia.
Peskov told reporters that Putin had invited 35 people to this meeting, including the commanders of Prigozhin and Wagner’s units, and that the meeting lasted three hours.
“The only thing we can say is that the president gave his assessment of the (Wagner) company’s actions on the front during the special military operation (in Ukraine) and also gave his assessment of the events of June 24 (the day of the operation),” Peskov told reporters.
He said that Putin listened to the leaders’ explanations for what happened and offered them other alternatives to engagement and fighting.
The commanders gave their version of what happened (on 24 June). They confirmed that they are loyal and loyal soldiers to the head of state and the supreme commander of the armed forces. Peskov also said that they are ready to continue to fight for the Motherland.
