“He couldn’t even move,” he said.

One parent added, “He was like drugged, drunk, even mentally retarded.”

The parents took their son to the hospital.

Tests on the cats showed Ray had water poisoning, or a dangerous drop in sodium levels in the blood that occurs when the kidneys overwhelm the amount of water entering the body.

Then, as Ray’s mother reported, the doctors gave him a special fluid to urinate because he had started to swell around the brain.

Doctors also spent eight hours giving Ray sodium and potassium to regulate his blood.

Then as soon as he woke up and asked about food, he said: Where am I? What happened?” his mother recalls.

His parents added that Ray is doing well now, has made a full recovery and has no lingering symptoms.

According to the New York Post, Ashley Summers, a 35-year-old mother of two from Indiana, died July 6 of developing brain swelling after drinking four bottles of water in 30 minutes, her brother said on social media last week.

“If you drink some energy drinks or drink water more slowly, you will be alive,” her brother wrote. “To all my friends, please do a little research on water toxicity. It could save someone’s life.”
