And Starfield has officially gone gold. After years of waits and delays, award-winning development team Bethesda Game Studios’ first new IP in decades is ready for release next month.
For the record, the term “gold” is used quite often in the gaming industry and practically means that the creation of the initial version of the project has been completed and the process of producing retail copies can now begin. Of course, the development team does not stop working on the game and the changes it will make until its release is integrated into the day one patch.
The announcement was made through the team’s official Twitter account, with a post revealing when the pre-load will begin. In particular, players on Xbox consoles will be able to start downloading from tomorrow, Thursday, August 17, while PC players will be able to pre-download the game files on Wednesday, August 30.
So, now everything is ready for “take off”. Related post follows.

– Bethesda Studios August 16, 2023
Starfield is expected to launch exclusively for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on consoles, as well as for PC on September 6, when it will be available via Steam. In fact, it will be available on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service from day one.
The game is expected to be huge in terms of size, as Bethesda confirmed that it will eventually include more than 250,000 dialogue sentences! By comparison, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has 60,000 dialogue sentences, while Fallout 4 hit 111,000. At the same time, Starfield will also have a bigger city than what we’ve seen in Skyrim, Oblivion, and Fallout.
