iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus include USB-C and…Dynamic Island – iPhone

The first two models of Apple’s new smartphones, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, are offering even more excitement this year.

As has been the case throughout the series, Apple is now adopting USB-C as the port for charging and data transfer, leaving Lightning behind, a change that follows EU regulation of a common charger for all mobile devices from 2024.

The OLED displays on both models remain the same size, with the iPhone 15 having a 6.1-inch display while the Plus model has a 6.7-inch display for those who want a more affordable display than the Pro Max, prioritizing screen size and autonomy. But brightness still reaches 2,000 nits, while Dolby Vision is also supported. However, it is disappointing that Apple caps the refresh rate for both models at 60Hz this year, without support for always-on mode. However, after some time, the company noticeably reduced the margins around the screen, which now take up more space.

Another change is the complete removal of the notch, the large notch at the top of the screen, which we first saw (and hated) with the release of the iPhone Selfie camera and Face ID sensors. However, the difference, as owners of last year’s Pro models are well aware, is the use of a notch as part of the iOS operating system, which displays various dynamic information to the user.

The biggest noticeable upgrade to the iPhone 15 aside from the addition of Dynamic Island is the improved camera system. The main camera sensor is now 48MP, which is a marked improvement over the 12MP sensor on the iPhone 14. There’s also a 12MP telephoto lens, and improvements to selfies mean you’ll no longer need to manually switch to portrait mode.

In other features, both models include the A16 Bionic chip. The SoC that we saw in the Pro models of the iPhone 14, which offers the highest performance. Inside is still the second-generation ultra-wide band that we also saw in the Watch S9, to make it easier to keep track of things and people who share their location with you. Satellite connectivity for emergency location reporting is also supported, with a free two-year subscription. However, Greece is not yet on the list of supported countries.

As with the Pro models of the series, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be released on September 22 in the first countries, including Greece. We know that pre-orders will start in our country on September 15, while the article will be updated soon with prices for all models. However, in the US, the iPhone 15 starts at $799, while the iPhone 15 Plus starts at $899, for the 128GB model in both cases. This means that despite previous reports, prices for the original iPhones remain the same as last year’s models, at least in the US.
