Smartphone fans have been worried about Apple’s new devices since the tepid iPhone 15 announcement on Tuesday (9/12). On X (formerly Twitter), users went so far as to claim that “innovation died with Steve Jobs,” the co-founder and former CEO of Apple who died in 2011 of cancer at the age of 56.
The new iPhones, which are expected to be released on September 22, feature unprecedented tinted glass and new charging ports.
Although the screen size is comparable to the 14, the 15’s titanium design makes it “lighter than the Pro models,” Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote in X.
However, the improved dual-camera system, overall improved performance, and expanded security features aren’t enough for amateur critics online who claim that the iPhone 15 models lack enough innovation to differentiate them from the previous generation.
“Apple innovation died with Steve Jobs.” a disgruntled user wrote on X . “Most of 2011 has seen 0.5 to 1 degree improvements over existing products – with the exception of the watch – which is inevitable anyway.”

“I’m a huge Apple fan and the iPhone 15 is so cute,” another noted.
I’m a huge Apple fan and the iPhone 15 is very nice. I’m skipping and waiting to see the iPhone 16.
This should have been called iPhone 14.2. This was not enough to earn a ’15’.#Disappointed#let down pic.twitter.com/BgL1XaO60C

“I’m waiting and waiting to see the iPhone 16. This should have been called iPhone 14.2. This was not enough to win the ’15’, confirms the platform user.
