Saccari 0-2: The dazzling Maria has her ticket to the Guadalajara quarter-finals

Maria Sakkari was created at Tennis Akron Stadium. She beat Camila Giorgi 2-0 (6-2, 6-2) and secured a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 1000th tournament in Guadalajara. Her next competitor is Emiliana Arango from Colombia, No. 180 in the world rankings.

Maria felt “nervous” for a while at the beginning of the second set, but she finished the match in an hour and six minutes. Sakkari had four aces, winning 74.4% of first serve points, while she was able to get six out of eight break points.

Maria Sakkari started the match very strongly. With two consecutive breaks in the second and fourth games, but also her “weapon”, she managed to take a 5-0 lead.

The Italian then responded by reducing the score to 5-2, even breaking the Greek tennis player’s serve. However, Sakkari showed her teeth again, and with her third serve she won the set 6-2, after 36 minutes of play.

Giorgi started strong in the second set. He came in with confidence, made a break, while also getting the second game. But Sakkari counterattacked, improved her proportions, and responded by breaking her opponent’s serve, advancing 3-2.

The leading Greek tennis player continued the same high pace, making another break and leading 4-2. Sakkari took the next two sets and thus managed to gain qualification in the eight group.
