Desantis says he regrets not initially speaking out against Trump’s strike action

Tsandis, a close ally of Trump, said he was involved in the early days of the White House’s epidemic response and was advising the president. But he was surprised when Trump made a decision that led to the closure of much of the US economy.

“In February and early March, I never thought the (corona virus) would lead to the country being locked up,” the Republican governor told conservative podcast “ruthless” editors during an episode recorded Thursday. “I didn’t. I didn’t think it was on the radar.”

DeSandis accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of “like” Trump for instructing Trump to consider the strike. Fassi, the nation’s top epidemiologist, was part of a corona virus response team led by Vice President Mike Pence and included other public health professionals. But Trump’s decision to follow in the footsteps of the White House and close Florida schools, government buildings, gyms, bars and dining rooms, and advised Floridians to stay home.

This is not the first time Desantis has guessed for a second time the steps taken by the Trump administration to reduce the spread of the virus. In November, Desantis questioned whether it would be effective to ban flights from China, the epicenter of the initial explosion.

“I may have been the first governor to call for travel restrictions from China in January 2020. I supported President Trump when he did so,” Desantis said. “But we have to take a step back and admit that those travel restrictions are not working.”

Trump sees the ban on travel to China as one of the signature end points of his response to the epidemic, and he kept it at the end of his presidency.

Descartes’ comments follow reports on Thursday that Trump was personally complaining about the lack of honesty from his former bodyguard. In talks with allies previously announced by CNN, Desandis, who has been much talked about by Republican leaders, said Trump was unhappy that he had publicly rejected the 2024 presidential attempt if Trump sought another four-year term.

In fact, just days before the Podcast appearance of Desantis, Trump Seemed to call Republican governor during an interview Tuesday night. Trump described politicians who did not say they would get a corona virus booster shot as “cowards.” The joke was seen as a thin attack on Desantis who refused to share his vaccine status during a widely shared December interview with Fox News editor Maria Barthromo.

“I saw a couple of politicians being interviewed, one of which asked, ‘Did you get inspired?’ They answer because they have the vaccine – in other words, the answer is ‘yes’ but they don’t want to say it because they’re daring, “Trump told OAN.
