Two men in south-east London have removed the famous artist’s latest installation.

Not even an hour has passed since it was confirmed that these are the works of the famous artist Banksy, and his creation has been made… wings from a street in South London

It’s a STOP road sign covered by three aircraft that look like military drones. He announced it was his own in his post today shortly after noon.

Two men were seen taking down the sign at the junction of Southampton Road and Commercial Road in Peckham at around 12.30pm. Banksy was clearly not behind the banner’s removal, The Guardian reported in a related article.

A selection of photos were uploaded to the artist’s Instagram page without comment or explanation, confirming their authenticity.

The plane at the stop sign resembles that in Banksy’s 2017 artwork, Civilian Drone Strike, which depicts three drones bombing a child’s drawing of a house. It was auctioned at Art The Arms Fair and raised £205,000 for Deferral and the Campaign Against the Arms Trade.

The artist often references contemporary issues and in 2020 included messages about the coronavirus pandemic in his work.
