A 13-year-old has played the popular game Tetris – the first to do so

A 13-year-old boy managed to become the first person to beat Nintendo's popular video game Tetris in 1998.

Oklahoma's Willis Gibson was live streaming the game last month and beat Tetris after 38 minutes.

“Oh my God! Yes! I'm going to pass out,” he said, realizing he had stopped the game. “I can't feel my hands”

Willis Gibson, who goes by the game name “Blue Scuti”, broke the record by reaching level 157 and watching the match “end” on screen.

“Oh my God! Yes! I'm going to pass out,” he said, realizing he had stopped the game. “I can't feel my hands.”

He dedicated his big win to his late father, Adam Gibson, who died last December.

Participation in tournaments

The 13-year-old has been playing Tetris since he was 11, practicing for three to five hours a day.

He turned his interest into a hobby and participated several times in gaming tournaments. In October, he took third place in one of the tournaments in which he participated.

“I came into the tournament hoping to make the top 16 and I did,” Willis Gibson told the Stillwater News-Press.

“I was very excited to play against some players I knew online,” he added.
