Neither Athens nor Thessaloniki – in Greece, the second most welcoming city in the world

A new distinction has been allocated to Greek tourism for the 2024 Traveler Review Awards.

This list compiled by Booking has selected the top ten cities, chosen based on the amenities they offered visitors in the past year.

In this list we find a very high Greek island, in second place, Syros, with Ermoupolis scoring a very important distinction.

The listing in question refers to more than 309 million verified customer reviews on the site. Only customers who have already stayed at a property, rented a car, or traveled by any means can leave a review about their experience.

At the top of the list is the town of Arraial d'Ajuda, located south of Porto Seguro, known as one of the best beach destinations in Brazil.

In contrast to bustling Porto Seguro, Arraial d'Ajuda offers a quiet and peaceful atmosphere while enjoying the beautiful architecture and landscape with colorful houses throughout the area.

The next place is Ermoupolis, also known as the City of Mercury. The capital of Syros and the Cyclades offers a dazzling display of neoclassical architecture, its tiny streets and winding alleyways.

Neoclassical buildings, majestic and lively palaces fascinate every visitor. Syros is also famous for its beautiful beaches, traditional settlements, rich nature, delicious local cuisine and strong Catholic element that gives it a special character.

The top 10 list also includes two Asian cities: Jaisalmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan, in ninth place, and the Japanese resort town at the foot of Mount Fuji, Fujikauguchiko.
