The two friends, aged 44 and 50, went missing yesterday afternoon off the coast of Sfakia and were found dead a short time apart.

They went fishing in two boats
It is remembered that throughout the night two boats of the port force, a lifeguard and a patrol boat, parasailing and a drone with a thermal camera “swept” the sea area from Sfakia to Kavtos in the hope of finding traces of the two friends. , unfortunately to no avail.
The two were out fishing in two barges when the weather suddenly changed on Sunday afternoon and strong winds started blowing. Immediately two friends from Rethymno contacted the authorities for help. An alarm was sounded at the ELAKT Search and Rescue Coordination Center and a massive operation was launched to find them, which has so far been unsuccessful. According to ERT Sania, an eyewitness who saw the two friends in the small port of Sfakia where they had parked their car said they were wearing life jackets.
