Dozens were killed in the shooting incident that occurred today (22/3) at a concert near Moscow. As everything appears, this was a crime that the Russian authorities tried to prevent.
They didn't. The massacre in the Crocus City Hall concert hall is real and the brutal photos from the scene of the tragedy are truly shocking. The terrorists showed no mercy.
Arrests before the massacre
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today, hours before the massacre, that it had arrested seven Muscovites who were allegedly planning violent attacks in the Russian capital, TASS news agency reported.
According to the FSB, the detainees are linked to the Russian Volunteer Corps, a paramilitary organization that has claimed responsibility for recent incursions into Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
Moscow classified the body as a terrorist organization, which, according to the FSB, was planning “acts of violence against law enforcement officials, military personnel and foreigners.”
The United States had warned
On March 7, the US Embassy in Moscow warned of an imminent terrorist attack.
He announced that day that “the embassy is monitoring reports that extremists plan to attack large gatherings in Moscow, including concerts, in the near future, and American citizens should avoid large gatherings for the next 48 hours.”
When the warning was issued, it raised concern among Russian observers, as there was no public information indicating the possibility of a terrorist attack.
The US Embassy has not yet clarified what potential terrorist threat he was referring to and where he obtained the information.
