Are you worried about fading of clothes, especially children's clothes? There is a simple and economical solution that you may not know about. Of course, when there are children in the house, the washing machines do not stop. Clothes with stains from toys, food, and various activities fill the laundry basket.
To keep your clothes clean and shiny, you can apply a simple trick: Add a cup of vinegar to the washing cycle of your washing machine.
How does vinegar work?
- Connects colorVinegar helps preserve the colors of clothes and prevents them from fading.
- Removes detergent residue: Over time, detergent residue can build up on clothes, making them appear dull. Vinegar helps remove this residue, making your clothes brighter.
- Neutralizes odors: Vinegar can also remove unpleasant odors that may appear on clothes, especially if you forget to take them to the dryer immediately after washing.
- Cleans the washing machine: Vinegar helps clean the washing machine between wash cycles.
How to use vinegar
Add about a quarter cup of distilled vinegar to the fabric softener container during washing. The vinegar will wash out completely during the wash cycle and will not leave any lingering odors on your clothes.
Alternatives to combat fading
If fading is still a problem, or you don't have vinegar on hand, there are some other things you can do:
- Wash your clothes with cold water.
- Turn your clothes inside out before washing them.
- Take clothes out of the dryer once they are dry.
- Wash clothes with similar colors.
- Do not overload the washer.
