Trump's post about a solar eclipse goes viral — plunging the US into darkness

Seven years after the infamous moment when… Donald Trump I looked directly into the sun during the last one eclipse in United States of AmericaThe former president struck again, this time with a post that went viral again.

In the early hours of Monday, Trump posted a bizarre election ad on Truth Social, in which his head takes on the role of the moon — blocking out the sun and plunging America into darkness.

The video begins with the phrase “The most important moment in human history will happen in 2024” over an image of a blazing sun and dramatic music. The video shows crowds gathered to watch the solar event, looking up at the sky while wearing goggles, when a huge silhouette begins to move slowly across the sun.

But the moon is not the cause of this rare phenomenon. It's the outline of Donald Trump's head. As his head covers the entire sun – creating his own solar eclipse – a phrase flashes across the screen: “We will save America and make it great again.”

Some social media users were somewhat confused by Trump's message, in which he commented that he would block out the sun and plunge the entire Earth into darkness.

“Will Trump’s victory over Biden plunge America into darkness?” asked one former Twitter user.

“I also forgot to include the next frame, you know, in which the sun rises again. The eclipse is temporary. Like Trump,” says another.

Trump's stance on the April 8 eclipse comes seven years after his infamous moment during the last solar eclipse. In August 2017, the then-president went viral when he ignored all sun safety recommendations by looking directly into the sun with his naked eyes.

Trump was with then-First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron on the Truman Balcony at the White House to witness the rare phenomenon.

While the First Lady and her son were wearing glasses, the former president was repeatedly seen looking at the eclipse without proper eye protection.
