Xiaomi 14 Ultra phone review – Review

Continuing the strategic partnership with Leica, Xiaomi is incorporating an impressive camera system into its flagship, which aims to compete on equal terms with the major powers in the category. After using the smartphone for a while, we report our experience.

In terms of design, no drastic changes have been made compared to last year's model. The back is covered in black or white eco-leather, with the Xiaomi logo sitting vertically in the bottom left corner, while a third of the device is taken up by the massive camera piece at the top. It is a round base containing four lenses and a flash, with the Leica logo in the middle. At a glance (and a little imagination), it's similar in appearance to a classic Leica camera featuring similar colors and a centered design, with the silver body extending up and down. That's obviously not the case here, but the design is certainly stylish given the initial shock of the massive camera.

In terms of dimensions, it moves to expected high numbers of up to 16.14 x 7.53 x 0.92 cm with a weight of 224 grams. It is enhanced with IP68 protection against water and dust, while the aluminum frame promises durability. The screen, which we will see in detail later, contains “Xiaomi Shield Glass” glass, which appears to be of high quality, but we have not tested its durability. However, the build quality across the board is high and worthy of such a device.
