In his radio interview 24 hours before the two sides met in Athens on Monday regarding the memorandum of understanding, Mr. Gerapetritis also stated that Greece's position is clear in Greek-Turkish relations, and does not discuss sovereignty issues, gray areas and religious issues. Regarding marine parks, he estimated that there was an overreaction and that he felt they would not have much impact.
It is noteworthy that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe gave the green light for Kosovo to become a member of the Council of Europe in a recent vote in which 131 members voted in favor of Kosovo’s membership, 29 opposed it, and 11 abstained from voting. . As expected, Serbian officials disagreed with the recommendation.
The final decision will be taken by the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers next May. This council consists of the foreign ministers of the 46 member states, including those that have not officially recognized Kosovo's independence.
