Alaska Airlines said that instead of receiving 23 MAX planes this year, Boeing will deliver between 10 and 20 planes. The company expected to expand its capacity by up to 5 percent more than last year. It now expects to increase production capacity by no more than 3%.

Michael O'Leary, chief executive of Ryanair, Boeing's largest European customer, told the Financial Times that the company had expected to take delivery of 57 planes in time for the summer peak, but was now waiting for “about 40”.

The airline has reduced some flights and slowed its growth plans, reducing the number of passengers it expects to serve in the current fiscal year from 205 million to 200 million.
