Eurovision 2024: Dutch singer under investigation – banned from rehearsals until further notice

Singer Joost Klein, who represents the Netherlands at Eurovision, is under investigation by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) over an unexplained “incident” and will not rehearse “until further notice”.

Dutch singer also broadcasts Sky Newslost his place in the penultimate dress rehearsal for the Eurovision final in Malmö, Sweden, where he was scheduled to appear in fifth place against Israeli Idan Golan.

Joost Klein’s appearance in the Eurovision final is uncertain

It is not yet clear whether Jost Klein will perform in Saturday’s Eurovision grand final.

“We are currently investigating an incident reported to us involving the Dutch artist. He will not be training until further notice. We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course,” the EBU said in a statement.

The 26-year-old singer took part in the flag parade at the start of rehearsal and walked around the stage, but then failed to get on stage for his performance after about 30 minutes.

He was candid during Thursday evening’s press conference, which brought together the 10 countries that advanced to Saturday’s Eurovision final.

Finally, Israeli Idan Golan was asked if she thought she posed a risk to the safety of other participants by attending the event.

The interviewer told Adan Golan that she did not have to answer the question if she did not want to.

Then Ghost Klein shouted loudly, “Why not?”

“We are all here for a reason”

Idan Golan responded, saying: “We are all here for one reason only. The European Broadcasting Union is taking all safety measures to provide a safe and unified place for everyone. So I think the situation is safe for everyone, otherwise we would not be here.”

Her answer was met with applause.

At the beginning of the press conference, Jost Klein also had the Dutch flag wrapped around his head for a while before the questions began.

Sky News sent an email to Jost Klein’s representatives to comment on his absence from training.

More pro-Palestine demonstrations are expected to be planned in Malmö in conjunction with the Eurovision final on Saturday.

More police were recruited from neighboring Denmark and Norway.

In recent months, protests and calls to boycott Eurovision have erupted, with the European Broadcasting Union refusing to remove Israel from the competition, insisting that it had not violated any broadcasting rules.

It is reported that in the final on Saturday, Marina Sati, who represents our country in this year’s Eurovision contest, will appear in 12th place, with Celia Kapsis, who represents Cyprus, appearing in 20th place.
