High temperatures were recorded in central and southern parts of our country on Sunday 19/5, while the weather is expected to be similar in the following days.
According to the network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, 108 weather stations reported maximum temperatures above 30 °C, including Attica.

Epirus, Thessaly, Styria, the Peloponnese and the Dodecanese recorded maximum temperatures above 30 °C.
The island of Crete again recorded the highest maximum temperature, with Toblo Monastery recording a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius.

Kolitas: Hottest days are Tuesday and Wednesday
Meteorologist and director of EMY, Theodoros Kolitas, predicted that Tuesday and Wednesday would be the hottest days. He specifically stated in his post:
“We lived a little today…
On the hottest days, Tuesday and Wednesday, many areas will be above the “heat burn”, while, especially on Wednesday, descending westerly winds will work in many areas in the east”.
Satraphilias: From Thursday onwards, dust and heat will subside
Meteorologist Giorgos Satrafilias said in his note that the heat will spread over more areas on Monday and Tuesday, while he forecast the African dust and heat to recede from Thursday. Specifically, it states:
“”Stubborn subtropical cyclone with fresh surge to spread heat over many areas on Monday and Tuesday”
The increased concentration of Saharan dust is mainly maintained in western and southern Greece.
Over the next two days, the mercury will reach 36-37 degrees in Crete, 35 degrees in the Peloponnese, 34 degrees in the Dodecanese and Idolokernania, and 32 degrees in Attica and Epirus. From Thursday onwards, the dust and heat will subside.”

General characteristics
Generally clear with sparse clouds, temporarily thick in continental areas in the afternoon and afternoon, hence localized rain in the mountains.
Visibility will be locally low in the morning over central and northern continental areas and fog is likely to develop.
The transport of African dust is favorable, showing the greatest concentrations in the west and south.
Winds in the west will vary from 4 Beaufort to 5 to 6 Beaufort locally in the south. In the rest of the country, winds from northerly directions will be between 3 and 5 and in the Aegean region up to 6 Beaufort.
Temperatures will rise slightly in the western and central and southern continents. It ranges from 26 to 28 degrees in the north, 30 to 32 degrees in the rest of the country, 33 degrees in the west and 34 degrees Celsius in southern Crete.
Macedonia, Thrace
Weather: A few clouds increased temporarily mainly in the afternoon-afternoon, so there will be localized rain in the mountains.
Winds: Variable 2 to 4 and east east northeast locally 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 13 to 26 to 27 and locally 28 to 29 degrees Celsius in Central Macedonia.
Ionian Islands, Epiros, West Styria, West Peloponnese
Weather: Generally clear with sparse clouds, temporarily thick in continental areas in the afternoon and afternoon, hence localized rain in the mountains.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and locally south to easterly 5 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: 18 to 32 local 33 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus it is 3 to 4 degrees lower.
Eastern Styria, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese
Weather: Generally indistinct clouds, temporarily thick in continental areas during afternoon and afternoon, hence localized rain is likely in the mountains.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and locally east east northeast to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 16 to 31 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Cyclades, Crete
Weather: Generally sunny with rare clouds.
Wind: North 4 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 19 to 27 and 30 to 31 in Crete and 34 degrees Celsius in the south.
Eastern Aegean Islands – Dodecanese
Weather: Generally sunny with rare clouds.
Wind: North 4 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: 19 to 30 degrees Celsius. In the north it has decreased by 2 degrees.
Thessaly
Weather: Generally indistinct clouds, temporarily thick in the afternoon and afternoon, hence localized rain in the hills.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort and East East Northeast.
Temperature: 16 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Attica
Weather: Generally sunny with rare clouds.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort and East Northeast.
Temperature: 18 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Thessaloniki
Weather: A few clouds will increase mainly during mid-afternoon.
Wind: Variable from 2 to 3 and southerly to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon.
Temperature: 16 to 26 degrees Celsius.
Forecast for Tuesday 05-21-2024
In the north, a few localized clouds increased temporarily during the afternoon and afternoon hours, so localized rain is possible over the mountains.
Elsewhere in the country, it will be cloudy and dense at times.
Visibility will be locally low in the mornings over northern terrain.
West, central and southern African dust transport is favorable.
Winds will be westerly at 4 to 5 southerly and locally up to 6 in the Ionian, gradually turning west northwest to 5 Beaufort in the evening. In the east, it will initially blow at 3 to 5 Beaufort from northerly directions and gradually from southerly with the same intensity.
Temperatures rise slightly, and fluctuate greatly during the season and reach between 32 and 34°C in the central and southern mainland, Crete and the Dodecanese.
Forecast for Wednesday 05-22-2024
Mostly clear weather with some local clouds in the south. From midday, clouds will form in the north and there will be local showers and isolated storms in central and eastern Macedonia and the mountains of Thrace.
Visibility will be locally low in the morning over western continental areas.
African dust is gradually receding from the west.
Winds will be northerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the remaining areas, west northwest winds will be 3 to 5 and will gradually increase to 6 Beaufort in the central and southern areas.
The temperature will drop slightly in the west and north.
Forecast for Thursday 05-23-2024
Some cloud in the northeast increased temporarily with localized showers and isolated storms mainly in the afternoon and afternoon. An improvement is expected in the evening.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather will be generally clear with occasional clouds over continental areas during the afternoon and afternoon, hence the possibility of localized rain in the mountains.
Winds will be 4 to 6 west northwest and 7 Beaufort inland in southern seas.
The temperature does not change significantly.
Forecast for Friday 05-24-2024
Mostly clear weather with occasional clouds in the afternoon and afternoon over continental areas, so there will be localized showers in the northeast and isolated storms in the mountains.
Winds from the north will be 3 to 5, the Aegean inland will be 6, and the southeast will be 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop a bit.”
