Thessaloniki: An adventure for travelers on a flight to Belgrade

Passengers of Air Serbia flight JU547 from Thessaloniki to Belgrade suffered in the early hours of Friday (24/5).

As planned, the flight started from “Macedonia” airport at 04:25, but in the end it turned out to be a big adventure for many passengers, because when it took off and reached North Macedonia, it had to return to Thessaloniki.

“They changed our tickets but there was no further compensation and we didn’t find out what happened to the plane”

As described by a passenger on an Air Serbia flight voria.gr“We boarded on time, but 40-50 minutes after we took off, due to a technical problem, the pilot announced that we would have to return to Thessaloniki and wait on the ground for a while. Although the passengers did not understand exactly what was happening at first, as we hovered above Thessaloniki for an hour, , we were not told what was going to happen and confusion started to set in.

“As soon as we landed, they told us to get off the plane and wait to be told what was going to happen. This update was delayed. They kept us waiting for half an hour to half an hour, and we didn’t even know if we were going to fly to Belgrade,” he says.

Finally the flight left for Belgrade after 8:00 but still no reply. It should be noted that most of the passengers had connections in other countries and many of them do not even have second flights today. “Some of us were “lucky”, if you will call it, that there was a second flight today. I had to wait seven hours at the airport for my next flight,” he says.

“All they did was give us a gift voucher worth 10 euros. They changed our tickets, but there was no compensation beyond that, and we never found out what happened on the plane,” he concludes.
