Actor Donald Sutherland has died at the age of 60

His son, fellow actor Kiefer Sutherland, posted on X: “It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away.”

“I personally think he is one of the most important actors in the history of cinema. He never backed down from a role, whether it was good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and he did what he loved, and you can’t ask for more than that. He lived a good life,” he added.

American media reported that Sutherland died in Miami after a long illness.

Film career for 60 years

The Canadian actor received an honorary Academy Award in 2017 for his outstanding performance, and has also won an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
