The ministry said in a statement that the purpose of their presence in the region is to “show the flag and ensure naval presence in important operational areas.”
He explained that this stoppage will last “several days” before the ships continue to carry out their “missions” in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Among the ships is the frigate Admiral Gorskov, the most advanced frigate in the Russian fleet, which entered service in 2018, as well as the tanker Akademik Pachin.
These ships docked in La Guaira, near Caracas, according to the Russian announcement.
