NASA astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Sunny Williams, Continue to contribute to research and activities on the International Space Station (ISS) while waiting for the Starliner spacecraft issues to be resolved so they can return to Earth.
The two have been in orbit since June 6. They were supposed to return on June 14, but technical problems with Boeing’s Starliner (which made its first crewed flight with a connection to the International Space Station) have not yet allowed NASA to set a return date.
Part of the activity includes preparing the uncrewed Cygnus shuttle, where debris and old equipment are being stored, as it is scheduled to leave the station later this month (it has a supply-carrying role). Astronauts are also participating in research experiments, preparing for the next NanoRacks missions, and, of course, Starliner checks, which should return them to Earth.

Of course, there are still 7 astronauts on the space station at this point, from the Space Crew 8 and Soyuz MS-25 missions, so the situation is relatively “crowded”, even though there were many of them earlier.
