Kate Middleton, who made her second public appearance in 2024 today, received a warm welcome from the Wimbledon crowd.
The crowd gathered at Wimbledon did their best to show their joy at the presence of the Princess of Wales on the court.
The Princess of Wales attended the men’s tennis final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, continuing the royal tradition of presenting awards as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Kate has been Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, having been given the role by her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth.
Arriving at Wimbledon with her daughter and sister
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales arrived on Centre Court today after the men’s singles final between Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic to present awards to the athletes.
She was joined by two surprise guests in the Royal Box at Centre Court. Her daughter Princess Charlotte, 9, and her sister Pippa Middleton, 40.
Karat beat Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) in the Wimbledon final on Sunday. Princess Kate also presented the trophies at last year’s men’s tennis final, where Karat defeated Djokovic again.
When both players received their awards, they gave Kate a small bow. She shook their hands warmly, congratulated them on their victories, and exchanged a few words as she handed them their awards.
Kensington Palace confirmed on July 13 that Kate will attend the tennis tournament and take part in trophy presentations while she undergoes cancer treatment.
Debbie Jevans, chairwoman of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, told the Telegraph Sport in an article on June 27 that they would give the Queen “as much flexibility as possible”.
