Singer Nektarios Sferakis, who flourished in the 90s, talks about his return to nightlife and the artistic life of that time and recalls the most influential moment in his career.

Nadia Rigato

-What do you miss from the 90s that doesn’t exist today? What do you miss as an artist and as a person?

What I miss today is the indifference and apathy, as everything at that time went by itself in all areas. Money was easier, the world was more relaxed, and dreams in general were more achievable. Everything was easier and friendlier in all activities. Nothing makes you imagine the free fall that came at all levels and that radically changed the country socially, morally, economically and also artistically as the needs of society and the market changed, and art also adapted to these needs.

– Many songs from the 90s and beyond have been covered by new artists. Where do you attribute this? Have you ever had a new artist ask you for one of your works?

I consider it quite reasonable to re-present the great success of the nineties that was written in the public’s memory and present it to the public renewed and new with today’s aesthetics in order to continue from there on its already successful path and it is also correct from a marketing point of view because it is a well-known tune that has already passed the tests in the world’s consciousness.

Personally, I have been asked many times to arrange my songs but I have refused. The reason is that my songs are still active and I still hear them being sung, of course at this very moment I am flirting with the idea of making a successful duet for me with a very well-known and excellent artist. Person.

-On Saturday, July 20, you will find yourself again.N platform. What did you prepare?

the “90’tila and…. something….” It is the ultimate 90s party that brings back to our memory the most representative moments of that time when the carefree, happy, loving, sophisticated, intense in everything, optimistic and dreamy Greek nightlife was created.

“Ski” is a nice and friendly place for all ages, for singles and also for families even with small children. I say this because I visited it a month ago with my four children, and I highly recommend it. My partners and I are determined not to leave anyone complaining, and we will give joy, memory and a lot of fun.

-Are you at a point where you’re thinking about getting back into music more strongly? Will there be more live shows or a new song?

Yes, my intention is to return to the night of Athens creatively and with a proposal that begins with the skating that embraced “90’tila and… something…“There will definitely be a new song as well as collaborations, as it is the desire of many previous collaborators to collaborate as well as a large number of the audience who have been following me for many years and follow me in what I propose.

On the occasion of Saturday’s live, I want you to remember the most powerful incident that happened in the past while you were singing.

The thing that sticks in my memory is when a friend in a wheelchair came up to me on a live broadcast. The audience lifted the cart with their hands to walk… on stage about 50 meters away with my friend Michael above. Supported, he danced the most magical zibecco I have ever seen. Be good! I couldn’t hold back the tears… or sing properly.
