Elon Musk: Microsoft Phishing After Power Outage

Elon Musk has weighed in on the global blackout of flights, telecoms and banking due to the damage to Microsoft. The billionaire stressed the reliability of his own platform, X (formerly Twitter), by retweeting a user who said: “When all else fails, this app still works.”

The Tesla founder, known for his remarks and use of social media, also used the occasion to poke fun at the tech giant.

X compares to Microsoft

Tech mogul Elon Musk’s humor has gained attention again, this time focusing on Microsoft in the wake of a major global outage that has disrupted flights, communications and transactions.

In fact, in another tweet, he compared the internet giant to a fictional company called Macrohard, implying that Microsoft performed worse.

Microsoft’s response to the technical glitch

Microsoft announced today that it is taking action after a technical issue affected many companies, especially airlines. The company said in a message on social media X: “Our services are improving as we continue to take mitigation measures.”

The announcement also came as several companies reported technical problems or outages: companies in Australia such as the ABC television network, Sydney Airport and a supermarket chain, Berlin Airport, or even Britain’s largest railway operator, as well as the London Stock Exchange.

Also, in the “Downgrade to an older version of service” message, Microsoft notes that users “may not be able to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services.”

Microsoft adds that it remains “motivated to manage this incident, giving it the highest and most urgent priority, while continuing to address the ongoing impact to the remaining Microsoft 365 applications that are in a degraded state.”
