The heat wave will take a “break” for a few days as temperatures will begin to gradually drop tomorrow from Tuesday. But, as predicted by MEGA meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos, heat storms will make an appearance.
As Yiannis Kallianos said in the mega report, the temperature will start to rise again after the weekend, slowly, but not at the level of intense heat, but at temperatures closer to 36-38 degrees Celsius.
What does EMY offer?
After all, the National Weather Service has also predicted a drop in temperatures, although it was expected later on Thursday, July 25. As EMY meteorologist Yiannis Lagouvardos emphasizes, forecasting the trend of temperatures after 7/27 involves great uncertainty. But most forecast scenarios show that temperatures will again be above the average for the 1991-2020 period.
Back to 35 from tomorrow
Meteorologist Klerkos Manozakis predicted a “satisfactory” drop in the mercury from the middle of this week. He talked about the temperature returning to normal for the season, which is 35 degrees Celsius for the maximum temperature. At the same time, however, he cautioned that mercury’s retreat would be accompanied by extreme volatility. Sudden changes in weather will become more noticeable over the weekend, with rain and strong storms inland over central and northern areas and an emphasis on the afternoon and evening hours.
Meteorologist Sakis Arnadoklou has predicted that the temperature will drop to 34 degrees Celsius from tomorrow.
Today is the 15th day of heat
Today, however, marked the 15th consecutive day of record high temperatures, according to a National Weather Service bulletin. The warmest areas are Thessaly, the central and eastern mainland, and the southeastern Peloponnese. The highest temperature was recorded at Stylita (41.9 °C) in Phithiotida, followed by Psachna in Thebes (Nea Odos) (41.6 °C) and Evia (41.2 °C).
The map above shows the distribution of maximum temperatures in the country according to the network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens – meteo.gr.
As can be seen from the relevant information presented in this figure, the temperature exceeded 37 °C at 189 of the 513 currently operational stations (percentage ~37%) while the average maximum temperature was equal to 35.5 °C, a value higher than that. 20/07 (34.8 °C) and 21/07
