Stefanos Tsitsipas: New verbal attack on his father after disqualification – ‘Not very smart’

Stefanos Tsitsipas has gone on a new rampage against his father and coach.

The Greek tennis player may have lost to world number 576 Kei Nishikori in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) and was eliminated early from the “1000” tournament in Montreal, but that was not the only black mark on his appearance yesterday (8/8).

During the match, cameras caught him talking very badly to Apostolos Tsitsipas, and even went as far as throwing him off the court.

But it didn’t stop there. After the match, he “launched” a new verbal attack on him, saying he was disappointed with him.

“I felt like my ball was dead. It wasn’t heavy enough when I was hitting my forehand. The last 4-5 days I was complaining about this to my coach. That’s why I had a fight with him during the match. For me, an ATP Masters 1000 match is important. I need and deserve a coach who listens to me and my feedback as a player. My father is not very smart or very good at dealing with these situations.”

“This is not the first time he has done this. I am really disappointed with him. I don’t really know if I would consider making any changes now, but I am really disappointed. The most important thing for a player is to get immediate and good feedback from the coach. The coach is not the one holding the racket, it is the player who is trying to execute the shot. It is a team effort that has to be mutual so that I can improve my tennis.”

“If you don’t leave the field, I won’t play.”

Earlier in the first set, while losing 4-1 to his Japanese opponent, the visibly angry Greek tennis player turned to his father and coach and began cursing him.

“F@@ you! I will f@@@ you! Go fuck yourself!” she shouted at him and then said, “Get off the field now! If you don’t leave the field I won’t play! Get off the field now!”

Finally, Apostolos Tsitsipas left the stands shortly before the end of the first set, which Stefanos lost 6-4.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the 25-year-old tennis player has faced problems with his parents, as he had a fight in the past during a match with his mother and father.
