Blake Lively: The 5 Healthy Habits You Never Miss

There’s no doubt that we all love Blake Lively. From Gossip Girl and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to being incredibly funny with husband Ryan Reynolds or playing Lady Deadpool, the famous actress and entrepreneur seems to live a happy and balanced daily life.

No matter her busy schedule—she now has her own hair care brand, Blake Brown Beauty—and the demanding demands of raising her four children, she always looks glamorous and fit. If you’re wondering how she does it, the secret lies in her never-failing routine of 5 specific healthy habits.

#1

He does not drink alcohol.

“I don’t like the effects of alcohol, but I like being part of the process,” Lively said in a 2021 interview with People magazine. “I like being social and being around a lot of people.” (Her sober lifestyle is also what led her to create her own non-alcoholic beverage brand, Betty Buzz.)

“I’ve found that not drinking sometimes makes me feel alienated, because you don’t feel what’s going on — and it’s probably just in your head — and you don’t feel like you’re really part of a group or a situation,” she continued. Still, not drinking is a major factor in her health.

According to WebMD, quitting alcohol can lead to benefits such as better sleep, improved immune response, and a healthier weight.

#2

She never misses breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A study found that people who skip breakfast may be missing out on important nutrients. Blake Lively lives by this nutritional wisdom.

Her trainer, Don Saladino, told Cosmopolitan that her breakfast might include eggs cooked in coconut oil with some veggies, while other times she’ll have oatmeal and gluten-free fruit.

As for the rest of the actress’ diet, her trainer focuses on eating balanced meals with protein, vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, and good fats like avocado, coconut oil, and nut butter.

#3

– He drinks water as soon as he wakes up.

In the same Cosmopolitan interview, Don Saladino revealed that Blake Lively starts her day by drinking a glass of water. After a night’s sleep, the body is naturally dehydrated, so drinking water as soon as you wake up helps replenish body fluids.

The actress, in fact, takes her hydration a step further. She and her husband are rumored to drink hydrogen-infused water, which is said to boost energy and support healthy skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

#4

It follows the 80/20 rule.

If you scroll through Blake Lively’s Instagram account, you’ll know that she has a sweet tooth (the actress has a passion for pastries and desserts). So while she typically eats a nutrient-rich diet, she generally tries to stick to the 80/20 rule and leaves room for the unhealthy foods she loves.

Specifically, the 80/20 ratio suggests that 80% of the diet should consist of nutritious foods, while 20% should consist of less nutritious foods, such as sweets or fast food, in order to achieve balance.

According to her trainer’s interview with Cosmopolitan, 20% of Blake’s diet typically includes pasta and pizza, in addition to her favorite desserts.

#5

Always trying to rest

Since the star works out up to six days a week, rest and recovery are just as important as her workouts. Don Saladino told Women’s Health that his approach is active recovery:

“By keeping your heart rate slightly elevated using all planes of the body – sagittal, transverse and frontal – you will reduce the amount of lactic acid (which builds up in the body during exercise and causes muscle soreness), which helps repair them after exercise.”

#6

She checks herself in – physically and spiritually – before working out.

While her fitness regimen mostly consists of full-body strength training topped off with walking on the treadmill four to six days a week, her trainer told Women’s Health that Blake Lively starts every workout by talking about how she’s feeling, how she’s sleeping, and generally what her body is “telling” her.

Depending on how she’s feeling that day, Don Saladino will adjust her workout plan accordingly. As a mother of four, who travels a lot for work and has a busy schedule, flexibility is key.

“When he’s not feeling well physically or sleeping really badly, we can do steps or do more rehab,” said Don Saladino. So Blake Lively “listens” to her body, whether she’s doing an intense workout or something easier and more tolerable like walking and stretching.
