The company’s goal was for Paint 3D to replace the classic Windows Paint application, providing a modern working interface and many advanced functions. However, the application did not meet the expected response and finally It will be removed from the Microsoft Store on November 4th.with no further updates until then.
For the record, the launch of Paint 3D was part of a broader effort by Microsoft to promote 3D technology, in line with its vision for HoloLens and the future of computing. Despite initial praise for its innovative features, including 3D drawing capabilities, PNG file support, and layers, the app failed to gain widespread acceptance among users, who continued to prefer the simplicity of the classic Paint app.
So, in an unexpected turn of events, Microsoft has now turned its attention back to the native Paint app, which has received major updates and a modern interface since the launch of Windows 11 in 2021. For example, Paint now includes AI features to create images from text descriptions!
So, in a way, Paint 3D joins the long list of Windows 10-era apps that have been phased out during the Windows 11 lifecycle, like Cortana, Mail and Calendar, and more.
