EMY Emergency Bulletin: Rain, hail and lightning in next few hours – which areas will be affected

According to EMY’s updated Emergency Severe Weather Bulletin, localized showers and storms in the West, Central and North, with high frequency lightning and localized hail are forecast locally today.

In more detail:

Heavy rain and storm forecast:

• at Ionian (mainly in the area of ​​Lefkada and Kefalonia), western Styria, Epirus, western Peloponnese (mainly Achaia – Ilia), Thessaly and Sporades weakens at night.
• In Central and Eastern Macedonia (including Thessaloniki).
• In the evenings, it may be in its northern parts Eastern Land (mainly V. Fthiotida) and Evia.

Thousands of lightning strikes yesterday

According to the meteo.gr network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens, yesterday, rain and storms accompanied by intense electrical activity occurred in many parts of the country, with Paxos reporting the highest amount of rain.

Regarding yesterday’s power outages, according to the weather, from the beginning of the day until about 18:40 31,828 evacuations – Out of which 3,906 by land and 27,922 by sea.
