I’ve been trying to figure out what it is for a while. He, or whoever, is preventing the completion of the procedures for the electricity connection of Cyprus with Crete – as is known, it will start from Israel.

I asked right and left, read the relevant publications and the conclusion was – and I hope I am lying and admit it publicly – that the reason for the delay is a “piece” of the corrupt political and economic system that has interests.

I know that in these cases we need to report “names and addresses”, but for that to happen, a broader and comprehensive investigation is required, which is difficult to do in a few days. Therefore, the interests are large and belong to the people who have a relationship and interest in electricity. This is our conclusion that we support.

  • I don’t know what the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, thinks, but I know that the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, wants to implement the project at any cost. As for Israel, it got on the electric train first.

Any economic interests do not interest me much – except of course the corruption that both Cyprus and Greece suffer from. Corruption, as is well known, is everywhere, vertically and horizontally in the state apparatus.

They have eroded what we call the state. So it becomes easy for the financial system to help Elected politiciansTo stop investments that are made for the benefit of the people. Heavy words I know, but politicians swear to protect the interests of the people.

I deliberately avoid establishing relationships – even meetings – with economic and political actors, beyond those usual in my work as a journalist. In order to judge and criticize – as we constantly do, without fear or emotion – we have to distance ourselves from corrupt regimes. We always take a position based on the national interest.

I also realized from discussing the matter with the Americans that the electronic connection from Israel via Cyprus to Greece perfectly serves the strategic interests of Hellenism as a whole. It is a strategic investment that can also help the national cause of Cyprus. Both the Cypriot President and the Greek Prime Minister know this. And by this logic they should proceed.

Israel is certainly a problem at this time. And now his response to the horrific terrorist attack of October 7, 2023, has gone beyond all limits of revenge. The biggest and most tragic victims are civilians, women and children.

He has the right to kill those who caused last year’s tragedy – it is an unwritten “law” in wars, but somewhere mercy and forgiveness! And this war, which if it continues will turn into genocide, must end. The Jews themselves were victims of the Holocaust, which all democrats respect. But the war is no longer against the terrorist Hamas, but against the Palestinians, especially civilians.

We supported the Jewish state when it was under deadly attack by Hamas terrorists. But now no self-respecting person can accept what is happening and we see it with the naked eye.

On the other hand, for politicians and diplomats, life goes on. It is their profession. They have no feelings, no matter what they say about protecting human rights. Israel, whether we like it or not, is the absolute regional power in our region, whatever the Islamists Tayyip Erdogan may claim. With everyone against him, he not only exists, but also defeats his enemies. If Turkey dares to act militarily, it will lose. Even small children know this.

If occupied Turkey were in the position of Greece and Cyprus, the electricity interconnection project from Israel to the occupying state would have already been completed. Athens and Cyprus in particular must get rid of their phobia syndromes and think only strategically, after ensuring that the “clean work” will be done away from commercial and personal interests.

Note: Because there are right and left texts for and against the electricity interconnection project, we confirm that this site has no financial or other interests with the factors that support or oppose this investment. We publish all opinions, from both sides, but we also have a position that we express without fear or emotion.

Greece and Cyprus must decide on the basis of the strategic interests of Hellenism. After the cancellation of the EastMed pipeline, which was officially announced in Athens by the leaders of Greece, Israel and Cyprus, the three governments “do not deserve” another failure.

They must ensure that the investment is made, after removing all traces of corruption and vested interests. Above all, they must see the benefits for the citizens of Greece and Cyprus. It is already too late.

All studies should be conducted by independent houses, properly studied and evaluated and then the right decisions should be made. We understand that due to the secret Turkish threats, the Jewish state is committed to protecting the cable.

Postscript: Of course, stupid and motivated social media users attack the Cypriot government and journalists – myself included of course – with obscene descriptions for the non-implementation of the electricity interconnection project. They are obscene and certainly do not serve the interests of their masters. Whatever the bosses want, let them collect it because it is easy to prove their names. Even the Turks did not write such anti-Greek messages against martyred Cyprus. And also to remind them that the back doors of Megalonis were opened by the traitorous Athens junta under the orders of Henry Kissinger and in collaboration with the then Turkish government of Bulent Ecevit.
