As we head into fall, ’80s makeup trends are taking over, with ’90s-inspired lip liner and retro knots set to continue to dominate. In fact, Lana Del Rey rocked a classic ’60s hairstyle for her latest concert, striking the perfect balance between country aesthetic and timeless elegance.
The 39-year-old star appeared at Rock En Seine (a Parisian music festival) on August 21 wearing a chic Chanel tweed dress, which she paired with bright makeup. However, the most eye-catching element of her overall look was Bardot’s bouncy updo with a black bow, a must-have hair accessory this season. For the record, actress Brigitte Bardot was known for her big hair in the 1960s, which is still the iconic “French girl look” today. The legendary star sported curtain bangs and a lot of volume, especially at the crown. Lana Del Rey herself, on the other hand, often adopted the “big hair” philosophy in her 1960s-inspired hairstyles, especially early in her career.
Hairstylist Anna Covoni posted photos of Lana Del Rey’s look on Instagram a few days ago, describing the look as “beauty queen style with a touch of Bardot.” Using Authentic Beauty Concept products, she added volume to the singer’s hair, then pulled half of it back, leaving a few front strands to evenly frame her face. The hairstylist even added a black bow to the pulled-back hair, which was an interesting touch and lifted the hairstyle.
For her makeup look, Lana Del Rey followed a “less is more” approach, creating her signature cat-eye with eyeliner, a hint of highlighter on her cheekbones and a pop of red lipstick on her lips – all handled by makeup artist Pamela Cochrane. The styling was done by fashion designer Molly Dixon, who chose a Chanel creation that everyone loved for her celebrity client.
