Panama eliminates the need for a transport visa for Cubans traveling to Cuba

The Panamanian government exempts Cuban citizens or employees traveling to the Isthmian country from the visa requirement.

Executive Order No. signed by President Laurentino Cardiso and Minister of Public Security Juan Manuel Pino. 20, March 8, 2022 amends sections 1 and 2 of the previous rule in force.

According to a statement in the Panama’s Official Gazette this Wednesday, Cuban citizens traveling through the Central American country on their way to the island are exempt from the visa requirement for travelers or crew members in transit.

Cuban citizens with valid residency or multiple visas, duly issued by the United States and Canada, are valid for at least six months during the trip.

This case also includes citizens with valid residences or multiple visas issued by Australia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Great Britain and any state creating Northern Ireland, Singapore and the European Union.

The new Administrative Order stipulates that other travelers with a Cuban passport who require a stopover in the Republic of Panama must be subject to a visa for travelers or crew members in transit.

Sections 1 and 2 of the previous rule, no. 19, all Cuban travelers or crew members are required to have a transportation visa through the canal country, which is valid for three months and authorizes the person only to stay in the international transport area for 24 hours.
