The minister emphasized that “we are here today because we truly believe in peace, not the peace in which we ignore each other, but the peace based on building common values and interests and the peace that keeps us away from war.” In this sense, he expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the role played by Washington in supporting the peace process in the Middle East, stressing that the United States has always been a reliable partner that we can count on to build peace. The minister pointed out that the Negev Summit carried many positive messages to the residents of the region, “but it also carried clear and firm messages to those who work directly or through auxiliary bodies, that we are here to defend our values and interests and protect this dynamic.” . On the other hand, Mr. Bourita condemned the attack that targeted, on Sunday, the city of Hadera, south of Haifa. “Our presence here today is the best response to these attacks,” the minister said, stressing the need to preserve Israel’s security and interests. He also indicated that the resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel was not an opportunistic decision, but was taken out of conviction, recalling in this context the strong relations that exist between the Kingdom and society.
