The Attica Regional Tourism Office of the Ministry of Tourism decided to immediately stop the operation of the central hotel in Athens.
Attica Tourism Hotel Control Service (Regional Tourism Service of Attica) suspends the operation of the Central Coco-Mate Hotel immediately.
The service decision was taken after notification by the State Advisory Council. 15/2023 Minutes of the Tripartite Compliance Board, due to the partial cancellation of the hotel’s building permit (paragraph 8 of the aforementioned minutes of the Assembly).
“In the case in question, it is noteworthy that the Ministry of Tourism also acted in a timely manner in the past, inquiring with the relevant document to the YDOM of the Municipality of Athens, whether the accommodation in question had a building permit. As a result of compliance with the minutes of the meeting of the Council of Ministers sub no. 11/2022, withdrawn, but he never received an answer” said the Ministry of Tourism in a statement.
As further mentioned in the notification, with a document dated 21/4/2023, the competent Attica Regional Tourism Service sent a call to the hotel to investigate the reasons for no change in the notification and to provide explanations. Its building permit no. Following the change in 15/2017, the notified business information system has given the details of the tourist accommodation and its operation with due explanation.
“It is clear that the competent services of the Ministry of Tourism, from the first moment, immediately moved to investigate the legal operation of the hotel, as they are obliged to do based on the existing law,” the Ministry of Tourism concludes in its statement.
