A fine of 742 thousand euros against the frozen vegetable company “AINOS SA”

By decision of the Minister of Development, Costas Skrikas, a fine of 742 thousand euros was imposed on the frozen vegetable company “AINOS SA”, for violating Article 54 of Law No. 5045/29-07-2023 related to reducing the phenomena of illicit profit, after the controls implemented by the Market Surveillance Unit. Inter-agency (DIMEA).

Specifically, after conducting careful checks on 72 product codes (7/1/2023 to 9/30/2023), it was found that the frozen vegetable company mentioned in 50 codes obtained a higher gross profit margin than stipulated in the relevant legislation, Hence incurring a huge fine.

Development Minister Kostas Skrikas said in this regard: “The battle against precision and the phenomenon of profiteering is ongoing and daily. Controls are permanent, they will be tightened, and where the law stipulates, strict fines will be imposed.”

We are not satisfied until there is order and prosperity throughout the market. Suppressing any illegal activity and protecting consumers is our duty. The only criterion for the government and the Ministry of Development is to implement the law and support families affected by inflation.”
