Many iPhone users are confused when they discover a strange blue icon at the top of their smartphone screen. The icon appears next to the clock in the upper left corner of the status bar.
“What is this code blue?” someone wrote on Reddit, posting a photo of their iPhone screen.
“It showed up on my dad's phone and I have no idea what it is. My dad tends to randomly download a bunch of apps and never use them, so I have no idea where this is coming from. Anyone who knows please help. Thanks” He completed.
Another user replied jokingly “Foreigners are listening to you.” However, the answer is much simpler and less unusual.
What is this blue icon?
In fact it is The icon indicates that a built-in iOS feature called Voice Control is active. This is an accessibility feature designed to make it easier to control your iPhone – allowing for full voice control.
“You can control iPhone with just your voice. Speak commands to interact with screen elements, dictate and edit text, and more” Apple explains.
How to enable or disable it?
You can access the feature by going to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control. Quick access can be set to enable or disable the function in three ways.
- First, you can add it to Control Center and click on the icon.
- Second, you can set it to be an accessibility shortcut, which means it activates when you triple-click the side button.
- Third, you can ask Siri to turn it on or off using a voice command.
So, if you accidentally enable it, all these three methods will allow you to disable it.
If you don't need it on, you'll definitely need to turn it off. Otherwise, you may end up accidentally making your iPhone do things with your voice and you may not understand why.
If you're also confused by the code even if you've used voice control, that's understandable. This is because Apple recently changed the icon. It appeared as a blue microphone icon in the corner. But now it's a blue circle with two white arrows on the left and right sides and three vertical white lines in the middle.
