Panic prevailed today at a theme park in eastern Spain when a tree was uprooted by strong winds and fell onto a roller coaster, injuring 14 people.
More specifically, 14 people were injured today, two of them seriously, when a tree fell on a roller coaster at PortAventura in Tarragona, eastern Spain, the theme park announced today.
Injured passengers on the roller coaster were taken to two different hospitals in critical condition.

The park, popular with tourists on Costa Dorada, Spain, said: “This morning, due to strong winds… an accident occurred that led to a tree falling near the Tomahawk roller coaster.”
The statement added, “Some branches hit the guests who were riding the roller coaster.”

Catalonia's emergency services said they helped 14 people. Two of them were in critical condition and were transferred to two different hospitals. Three people with less serious injuries were also taken to hospital.
